As polls were nearly closing in the vote over Scottish Independence, 21st Century Fox chairman Rupert Murdoch made a rare call into Fox Business to give his take on what was driving a potential majority of voters in Scotland to want to secede from the United Kingdom.
“There’s meaning in this and I think it goes beyond Scotland,” Murdoch told Fox Business Network and Fox News host Neil Cavuto. “There’s a great, sort of anti-establishment groundswell,” he said, which is not only seen in the Scotland vote, but also in England and across Europe.
“And really, if you take the United States and go across middle America, what do they think of Washington, and Wall Street for that matter,” he added. “I mean, people are really looking for change.”
Also in the interview with Fox, Murdoch said that British Prime Minister David Cameron “will have to go” if the “yes” votes win it and Scotland decides to secede from the UK.
